A preliminary magnitude 7.7 earthquake has struck central Mexico, on the anniversary of the earthquakes of September 19, 1985 and 2017, considered the two most destructive in the country's recent history. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has reported that the earthquake caused the death of one person due to the collapse of a wall in a shopping mall. The earthquake struck less than an hour after the nationwide earthquake drill held at 12:19 p.m. local time to commemorate the earthquakes of September 19, 1985 and 2017.
