Progressive Portland city councilors make final attempt to save union jobs
A group of five progressive Portland city councilors is making a final attempt to save dozens of union jobs slated to be cut in August. An ordinance proposed by Councilors Mitch Green, Candace Avalos, Angelita Morillo, Sameer Kanal, and Tiffany Koyama-Lane attempts to do what amendments that failed during budget deliberations could not do by using some dollars of interest earned on the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) to avoid cuts to those jobs.
