The Barbie™ Diaries (20th Anniversary) - Collection

On this day 20 years ago, The Barbie™ Diaries was released by Mattel and Lionsgate on DVD and made a huge impact on me ever since. I was only 6 years old when I received this DVD as a gift from my mom, and I remember very much going through the catalog of the DVD and seeing all the products. While being regarded today as one of Barbie's most polarizing films in her classic film run history, for me, this is one of the movies I grew into loving more and more as I got older. Entering in to my Sophomore year of high school at 16, I found myself in the same place in life as Barbie™, and while at the time juggling figuring out who I was as a teenager, friends, romance, school, and my love for collecting dolls, I found a place that I could completely mesh with and relate to. This movie, its dolls, and soundtrack were something I could really use as an outlet, and let me be creative at "16" while still enjoying collecting dolls. It evened both fields for me and allowed me to truly and authentically be myself and who I was at this time shamelessly. Looking back at some of my earliest videos here on my channel, you can see the passion I put into them, especially the ones that featured this amazing doll line. It took me 20 years, but as of today, I have every product and toy-tie-in released for this movie, and I couldn't be happier to share it! Although Sophomore year are days gone by, this movie will always remind me of that time in my life where that teenager needed to, both be grounded, but also have their head in the clouds dreaming bigger than ever.
