I Designed a Village of Star Greenhouse Homes for Aging in Place

In this video, I explore the design for the Star Greenhouse Village, a visionary concept for multigenerational living that connects seven private homes under one massive glass roof. We’ll take a tour of this unique sustainable community, shaped like an 8pointed star, where residents live in private rammed earth homes but share a vibrant, 5,700squarefoot central greenhouse garden. If you are interested in cohousing, sustainable architecture, or finding a better way to design for aging in place, this concept redefines what a neighborhood can be. We’ll dive into the technical details, including the geothermal heating and passive stack ventilation systems that keep the community garden flourishing yearround, as well as the birdsafe glass features. I’ll also show you the interior of the private units, which feature accessible layouts and rammed earth walls for thermal mass, ensuring comfort and privacy while keeping you connected to your neighbors.
