Karma of Youth - Halloween Song #Samhainsoon #halloween #halloweenmusic #samhain #ireland

I hope this isn't my last EP for a while. Times are tough in the music industry. #Samhain #Halloween #CheGeuvara Samhain is the pagan festival that was the original Halloween. These are songs about my childhood. Growing up politicised during the troubles in Ireland. I grew up in a generation who were conditioned to hate the British Empire, in rural Ireland, not to be confused with Dublin. The likes of Che Guevara was worshipped in republican Ireland as a socialist revolutionary. You must first understand this and why people felt this way and then break free from all the conditioning of your youth. The song is about two star crossed teenagers who are being abused at home. They choose Halloween night to engage a suicide pact, the night when the gate between the worlds is thin. Its set in the early 80s. I don't know why I wrote it. I think I dreamed it. It feels like I lived it. Similar to a past life memory if you believe in all that stuff. This is a world that is slowly being forgotten. Like it never existed but it did. I can see the affects of colonisation on the land and the people. Its pretty dark. Shane McGowan actually grew up in the same area as me. I often wonder why an young Irish songwriter in the 1980s is writing songs about the Irish famine called 'Thousands are sailing'. The Irish sailed to America on coffin ships during the famine. A small number would survive the journey. These were the Irish that brought Halloween to America actually. Interesting how all that connected there. Tonight, I hold the world tight. Halloween night. I see your blackened eyes, your petrol eyes. And for the first time, it's gonna be the last time, I see you in pale moon light, The children are politicised, We pray to Ché Guevara, I'll talk to you tomorrow, because no one ever loves you when sigh you take the hand and I follow. To the Lights of Coma Liath To the Lights of Coma Liath I am running with the spirits, to the lights of Coma Liath, To the lights of Coma Liath, to the lights of Coma Liath, I am crossing to your world into the lights of Coma Liath. Tonight, we light the bonfires, Of family ghosts, You missed the fireworks, the screamers cried, and for the first time, its gonna be the last time, I see you in the half light, I'll meet you in the Halcyon, We pray to Ché Guevara, I'll talk to you tomorrow, because no one ever loves you when you sigh you bite the hand and I'll follow To the Lights of Coma Liath To the Lights of Coma Liath I am running with the spirits, to the lights of Coma Liath, To the lights of Coma Liath, to the lights of Coma Liath, I am crossing to your world into the lights of Coma Liath.
