Pour une histoire de la BD : 3/10 La bande dessinée américaine, de Krazy Kat aux Peanuts.
Thursday, November 9, 2017 American Comics, from Krazy Kat to Peanuts Just like classic American cinema, comics produced in the United States between 1896 and the mid-1960s constitute a collection of impressive richness and diversity. It would be impossible to discuss all the movements, let alone all the influential authors. We will try to outline some key themes, from the funnies to the Comics Code, from Sunday pages to family strips, from the development of the Syndicates to the triumph of superheroes. We will focus on some creators, both famous and lesser-known, from Rudolph Dirks to Charles Schulz, including George Herriman, Frank King, Geo McManus, Alex Raymond, Milton Caniff, Jack Kirby, and Harvey Kurzman. But we will also discuss Prince Valiant and Popeye, Dick Tracy and Blondie, Superman and Mandrake.
