Don't Start 2026 Without Watching This English Podcast

Myths about water, sugar, and your brain — Olivia and William debunk ten common lies most A2-B1 learners (and native speakers!) still believe, from the "eight glasses a day" rule to the idea that you need to live abroad to become fluent. Along the way, you pick up expressions like "it turns out that..." and "I totally fell for that" so you can call out myths in your own conversations. You will hear Olivia and William bust myths in four categories: food lies like sugar making kids hyper, school lies like humans only using ten percent of their brains, personal lies like "I'll start tomorrow," and language-learning lies like "you're too old to learn." William shares the one excuse that held him back for years — saying "tomorrow" instead of "today" — and Olivia opens up about almost not starting the podcast because she felt she was not good enough. Every myth comes with the vocabulary you need to talk about it: how to use "debunk" in a sentence, the difference between "myth" and "misconception," and why "gullible" is a word you will suddenly notice everywhere. Try pausing after each vocabulary explanation and repeating the word out loud before Olivia gives the example sentence. Then rewind the Word Tour at the end and test yourself. In this episode, you will learn: "It turns out that..." to introduce surprising facts "Fall for" when you believe something that is not true "Hold back" for things that stop you from making progress "Made up" to describe invented stories or facts The difference between "myth" and "misconception" What is one lie or myth you used to believe? Tell us in the comments! Start with: "I used to believe that... but it turns out that..." Olivia and William walk A2-B1 learners through everyday myths and the English you need to discuss them — no textbook drills, just the kind of friendly, unscripted conversation that makes vocabulary stick without stress.
