Siskel & Ebert - Pocahontas (1995)
Siskel and Ebert reviews an American animated musical romantic drama film from Disney, "Pocahontas" in June 16, 1995. Starring the voices of Irene Bedard, Mel Gibson, David Ogden Stiers, and the others. It is loosely based on the life of the the Powhatan Indian Native American woman of the same name, and the arrival of English colonial settlers from the Virginia Company. The film romanticizes Pocahontas' encounter with John Smith and her legendary saving of his life. Both of them enjoyed the film, when Gene liked it a lot for a beautiful drawings, the characters, the songs and the voice acting is good. Roger liked it as well, a little bit, but he had a little mixed side and said that the story is kind of serious and a little bit of a downer, as it had no fun villain like the other Disney villains. I agree both Gene and Roger, which I enjoyed this film slightly. The characters with voice performances was great, the music was epic, and the songs were good. And I thought Pocahontas was an interesting character as well. But I am on the mixed side with Roger, too. The story was kind of derivative, and the focus on its tone was lacking. It was really serious. Like, one person gets killed, then someone needs to be executed, and it was kind of depressing. It shouldn't had to be serious. It could be, but not too much. Anyway, it's a fine emotional film, as I have a soft spot for it. it may not as one of your fan favorites, and not good as the previous Disney film, but it's pretty enjoyable nonetheless. Thumbs up for me on "Pocahontas". Pocahontas (1995) 3/4 👍 #siskelandebert #pocahontas https://siskelebert.org/ https://linktr.ee/noahstewart331 / noahstewart331
