In this spoiler-free review, I discuss the movie’s Old Hollywood setting, fast 89-minute runtime, colorful animation, movie references, slapstick humor, magical monsters, and why it works as a genuinely entertaining family movie. It may not have the emotional depth of Illumination’s best films, but it moves quickly, gives adults plenty of film-related jokes, and should keep younger viewers engaged.
