Poses and Body Language: Why Power Rangers Sucks at Them

Bust a cool kung fu move! Kick, chop, it's all in the mind! But uncontrolled, unplanned movements don't end up looking like how you imagined... (it truly is all in the mind!) Power Rangers has had a bit of an identity crisis in terms of how it physically portrays the characters in-suit. On one hand, you have a stunt team from Japan who's already done the work in identifying how each ranger carries themselves in stock footage borrowed from Super Sentai. On the other, you have a team in America/New Zealand balancing what they inherited from Sentai and a writing team who likely didn't consider the character's/suit-actor body language. Here's why Power Ranger poses are important and why it's important to recognize that good body language is an effective way to convey information about a character. And also why Power Rangers sucks at getting them right, despite decades of experience under their belts. We'll be looking at promotional photos, live shows, live appearances, the original source footage from Japan, as well as the show itself. I'll break down certain gestures and explain what acting inside the suits is like. Wanna see more of me? 🟔 SUBSCRIBE https://bit.ly/SubscribetoMintBari šŸ”“ CATCH ME ON TWITCH! I stream every week!
