Bad Neuenahr – Ein Ort zwischen Erinnerung und Aufbruch

Five years after the devastating floods in the Ahr Valley, the leadership of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland returned to Bad Neuenahr for a two-day meeting. From 1976 to 2020, Bad Neuenahr hosted the regional synod a total of 45 times. For decades, the synods shaped the life of the town and were also an important seasonal economic factor. With their return, the church leadership wanted to demonstrate solidarity with the people who made synodal life possible for so many years. This video shows images from the days of the flood in July 2021 and footage of the same locations five years later. Much has been rebuilt, but some things still bear witness to the destruction. The images are complemented by personal impressions from members of the church leadership and staff of the Evangelical Church of Bad Neuenahr.
