Minneapolis ICE shooting sparks protests in several major US cities

A protest erupted in downtown Seattle Saturday afternoon, with the group blocking southbound traffic on 2nd Ave at Madison St, at around 6:00 p.m. the front of the Henry Jackson Federal Building. The demonstration was organized by Seattle Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (SAARPR) in response to the death of 37-year-old Alex Pretti, who was reportedly killed by a federal officer this morning. Protest organizers issued a news release earlier in the afternoon, stating, "On behalf of Seattle community organizers, we would like to invite the media to cover a time-sensitive event. Following the murder of 37-year-old Alex Pretti this morning by ICE, organizations across Seattle have come together to hold an emergency protest and vigil at the Federal Building." Demonstrators gathered outside the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building, calling for accountability from immigration agents following the shooting of Pretti. People protested outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement facility in South Portland for the second night Sunday following the shooting and killing of a man by federals agent in Minneapolis. Federal agents in Portland detained at least five people Sunday night outside the facility. Protesters tried to block cars from entering the facility.
