I Spent 3 Days Exploring the Sumatran Jungle – Incredible Wildlife in Gunung Leuser National Park

Hey guys! In this video I go into one of the best trips in my life! Going in the Sumatran jungle for 2 nights and 3 days to see Orangutans. As I mentioned in my video, this is the whole reason I decided to go to Indonesia in the first place. I absolutely love animals and watching documentaries, so ever since I saw the Sumatran Orangutans in Our Planet, it has been on my bucket list to see them. There are only two places in the world where you can see Orangutans, in Sumatra and Borneo. Gunung Leuser National Park is fully protected by UNESCO, the jungle is healthy and safe and all the numerous species are slowly growing back in numbers thanks to that. The Sumatran jungle has its own unique species of animals that can only be seen in that jungle, including the Sumatran tiger, the Sumatran Orangutans and many others. If you are looking to go off the beaten path and get away from the main touristy areas in Indonesia, then I highly recommend you take this trip to Bukit Lawang in North Sumatra and try it out! You won’t regret it! Be aware, it is not for those who want to be in their comfort zone. You will be sweaty at all times, your clothes will never dry and there is no “hotels”. Say goodbye to AC in Bukit Lawang. But you guys, it’s SO worth it! You don’t even think about all those things half the time as you are too busy being immersed in this jungle and small town life. Please go with local companies as there are a lot of Westerners with jungle trekking companies, which will not be benefiting the local community. I went with Monkey Business tours and I absolutely loved them! Say hi to Suria from me if you choose them :) We had Ezzy and Ian as our guides and they were always smiling, making sure we were okay in all aspects and always going above and beyond to try and find animals. They had great communication before my trip, kindly answered my hundreds of questions and organised my ride from Medan to them. Website : https://www.monkeybusiness-tours.com/ Email : [email protected] Be aware, it’s recommended you stay at the guesthouse your jungle trek company provides. I did not do that unfortunately which meant I potentially stopped people from doing a jungle trek with the company of the guesthouse I stayed with. However, I don’t regret it because I met Brian In Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey guesthouse. He shared with us amazing stories from him being born and brought up in the heart of the jungle back to when people still lived in it. They are a super authentic company, full of energy and passion for keeping the wellbeing of the jungle. So go with them! Website : https://brianjungletreksumatra.com/?f...
