✍️ Today’s Run Note My VO2max is 55 on my Garmin and 64 on my Apple Watch. Since Garmin is more focused on running, I usually pay much more attention to the Garmin data. Over the past year, my Garmin VO2max has ranged from a low of 53 to a high of 58. One thing I have noticed is that the pattern seems to repeat every year. When the weather starts to cool down in the fall, my VO2max rises quickly. When summer arrives and temperatures climb, it starts to fall again. Because of that, I suspect Garmin's VO2max estimate is heavily influenced by heart rate. When I run at the same pace and my heart rate is lower than usual, the number tends to go up. When my heart rate is higher, it tends to go down. Every year, my VO2max seems to jump during October and November when the weather becomes more comfortable for running. In the summer, my heart rate is usually much higher even at easy paces, and I do not think the watch fully accounts for the effects of heat and humidity. That is why I do not pay too much attention to the day-to-day VO2max number. I find the long-term trend much more useful than the actual value itself. That said, I still have to admit that seeing my VO2max go up after a run always puts me in a good mood. Thank you for another day of running. Wishing you happiness and love in your life.
