In 2150, Hundreds Of Civilizations Invade Earth As It's The Only Planet Left

In 2013, seven alien species (Votans) arrived on Earth, expecting it to be uninhabited. Confusion and conflict ensued, leading to the destruction of nation-states and the use of Votan terraforming technology, changing Earth's landscape. Decades later, in the town of Defiance, built upon the ruins of St. Louis, Joshua Nolan and his adopted Votan daughter Irisa discover a plot to destroy the town. They decide to stay, with Nolan becoming the lawkeeper.
