Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says "there are still too many children on social media," despite a pioneering ban. He wants to double fines on rule-breaking platforms. Since December 2025, the likes of TikTok and YouTube have been legally required to take reasonable steps to prevent under-16s from signing up or keeping an account.
