I think choosing an espresso machine WITH a grinder or an espresso AND a separate grinder is a subjective choice. I did a taste test of several espresso grinders + Breville Bambino Vs Breville Barista Express as a hybrid espresso machine option. You can get better espresso with a dedicated espresso grinder, as the Breville grinder is somewhat lacking…but, is it worth the extra effort of having two machines? That depends, as you can still get a good espresso with a Barista Express, and it’s a lot easier. I think the Baratza Encore ESP is solid because of the price and ability to grind for other brewing methods. My favorite espresso grinder is the DF64, as I like the unimodal flavor profile and the value. The 1zpresso X Pro is my favorite hand grinder, as it grinds for all brewing methods too and has high clarity. If you’re unsure and new to espresso, I’d get an integrated machine, probably the Breville Barista IMPRESS. If you have experience with espresso, get a separate grinder.
