Gimnazija GANDHI in Romologija na Univerzi v Pečuju

ENGLISH The Gandhi Roma High School has been operating in Pécs, Hungary, since 1994. It is attended by Roma students who can enroll after completing primary school. During the week, they live in a boarding school. The school offers classes in Hungarian, and teaching two varieties of the Romani language - Romani or Beash - is a separate subject. Students decide for themselves which variant of the Romani language they will choose. Once a week, they have classes on the Romani language, history and culture. There is a special department for Roma studies at the University of Pécs. The video features an interview with a professor dr.sc. Fanni Trendl who was herself a student in this field. The specialty of these studies is that they include the study of language, culture, literature as well as the legal and social position of the Roma.
