Final drive seal replacement, FD Oil change, Spline grease. BMW R1200 Series between 2004 - 2012
The seal opposite to the wheel began to weep on my BMW R1200gs. Instead of just replacing the seal - easy 10 minute job, I decided to also replace the final drive oil and grease the splines too. The process is similar for all R series from 2004 to 2012. However, the final drive does not need to be pivoted down to drain the final drive oil on bikes from August 2007 (2008) to 2012 - where a simple drain plug has been provided in this model.
