Black dog fur colour pencils how I layer
I've created a time lapse of this black rottweiler to show you how I create my layers and fur. I start with the under layers which are actually what is reflected from things around like the sky, grass, sun and other objects in the reference photo. It's important to include these colours and these are also reflected in the highlights which are rarely ever white, I find just doing white on the fur where there's a strong light wont look realistic so by adding the blues, purples, green and ochre underneath I can pull them out at the end.
