"Go Tell It on the Mountain" is an African-American spiritual originating from the mid-19th century, rooted in the oral traditions of enslaved people in the South, celebrating the birth of Jesus. Compiled and published by John Wesley Work Jr. in 1907, it was later adopted as a 1960s civil rights anthem, frequently adapted for freedom protests.
