Onimusha: Way of the Sword (demo)

Originally streamed on 3 June 2026 [guess I might as well keep this, I had a lot of hopes and concerns for this and the demo more or less confirmed everything I thought about it, there's potential in there but the focus is far too much on the wrong things. From the reveal I was very interested in the environmental interaction over all the heavy emphasis on parries and animations, and at least from the demo, while it's all very stylish and satisfying at face value, for it to actually work like it should requires significantly more enemies, for them to be significantly more aggressive and for them not to fall to a breeze outside of things like Issen, and all this needs to be available when you first start the game. Speaking of which, besides stepping on each others toes, all the timed parry mechanics had very easy timing except Issen (at least initially so far), which turns into a bit of a catch 22 since there's little reason to do it if everything dies so fast outside of it anyway. That also really hurts the part that should be the highlight, the environmental stuff. If they can make it so the enemies actually demand all this stuff that makes you so OP then it could get pretty engaging, but without it there isn't very much else in there, except all the animation flair which can be a red flag if anything. Either way, I hope they do the right thing and this is still very early into it, but it's pretty sad and pathetic how this is yet another game with issues regarding group fights and passivity]
