When Nothing Is Wrong — and That’s the Problem | Lucas Vespoli | TEDxBostonCollege

What if the most dangerous moment in your life isn't the one that feels dangerous, but the one that feels perfectly normal? Drawing on his career in financial crime prevention, Lucas introduces the concept of "silent drift": what happens when systems, relationships, and even entire societies slowly stop working, but nothing feels wrong enough to be questioned. From personal stories to global patterns, this talk is a call to examine what we've stopped questioning, and how we can change what the next generation inherits as normal. Lucas Vespoli is a Brazilian-born financial crime prevention professional focused on compliance, technology, and human behavior. In his work, he partners with financial institutions around the world to uncover threats that traditional systems were never designed to see. His career has taken him across three continents, from São Paulo to Amsterdam to New York, and shaped his belief that the most dangerous failures are the ones that never feel like failures at all. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
