Making a New Pickguard for a 1937 Gibson L7 Archtop Guitar
In this segment of documenting the restoration of a 1937 L7 archtop, we make a new pickguard. The guitar came into the shop with a pickguard that was not even close to the original. I used new tortoise shell figured plastic of about 0.090" thickness to make the new pickguard. It was bound with a single layer of ivoroid binding to try to come close to the color of the 85 year old white binding on the body.
