How to Identify Early British Queen Victoria Stamps
While most stamp collectors have a good understanding of how to identify the iconic Penny Black, the other early Queen Victoria stamps of Great Britain can pose a challenge. The Stanley Gibbons catalog describes so many variants and details for these stamps that the process can be daunting. Making it worse, these stamps are not very common and a wrong identification can sometimes be the difference between a common stamp and quite a rare stamp. Armed with some basic understanding and few simple approaches, these stamps are really not that hard to understand.
