Löschen & Leben retten: Die Ausbildung geht weiter | Feuerwehrklasse (2/3) | Die Story | Kontrovers
In the first episode of the fire service class, our trainees arrived at the school, received their equipment, and had to prove themselves in an initial stress test. A few weeks have passed since then, and breathing apparatus is nothing new—it's part of everyday life. What they haven't done with it yet, however, is fight fires. They'll be doing this for the very first time in this episode of the fire service class. You can find the video of the first episode here: • Traumjob Berufsfeuerwehr: Wie ist die Ausb... To do this, they first familiarize themselves with the Munich Fire Department's fire simulation system. There are several potential fire sites in a total of four rooms. The fire simulation system is set up like a real apartment to practice real-life operations as authentically as possible. For example, there's a "bedroom" where the fire site resembles a bed. Technically, it's a gas-fired system. The flame can be controlled at the touch of a button in the control center; a sensor registers the amount of water being extinguished and automatically shuts off the system as soon as enough water has flowed. The system can also simulate smoke using fog machines – and a corresponding background noise can also be played. Extinguishing fires is, of course, not the only task of the fire department, which is why this episode also offers an insight into other areas of training. Albina, Max, and Christoph learn, among other things, rescue by turntable ladder, rescue after car accidents, and the proper operation of a chainsaw to remove fallen trees after storms. The final exams are also coming up in this episode…because after six months, the basic training course is already over. In three 60-minute theory exams, the trainees must be able to recall the knowledge they have gained over the past six months. Will our three make it? And if so, what will their first assignment at the station be like?
