Check out: aclu.org/edie On March 27, 2013 attorneys for Edith "Edie" Windsor argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unfairly forced Windsor to pay more than $363,000 in federal estate taxes after the death of her spouse, Thea Spyer, in violation of the equal protection principles guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
