Jealous Sea Lion Demands Attention From Scuba Videographers

Sea Lions are the playful puppy dogs of the ocean. They resemble our canine companions in their facial features, their personalities, and even their behaviour. These scuba divers were on a dive in the Galapagos Islands, filming and photographing the marine iguanas, a rare creature that is only found in the Galapagos. Its unique adaptations make it the subject of study and fascination of anyone with the good fortune to see them. But these waters are shared by the sea lions, much less rare but no less fascinating. They entertain scuba divers as they interact with them in the water. They are sleek, agile, and confident, giving them the ability to completely control the interaction. This creates a fearlessness in these animals that often leads to very entertaining encounters. What is surprising about sea lions is that they possess a very keen sense of humour. They rush in at scuba divers, turning at the last second, enjoying the reactions as they startle the clumsy humans. They bob their heads forward rapidly, expelling air and making a sound that resembles the human utterance "boo!". This sea lion showed up behind the scuba diver recording the marine iguana eating algae on a rock. The sea lion circles, just above the diver, gurgling and making a sound in his ear. When that did not divert attention from the iguana to her, she circled lower and got into the diver's field of view. She repeatedly swam straight at his camera until he began recording her. As the second scuba diver positioned herself to record an iguana, the sea lion positioned herself between them, vainly trying to become the most focus.
