Why the Book of Job Is the Oldest and Most Misunderstood Book in the Bible

There is a man sitting in a pile of ash. He is not there because he sinned. He is not there because he doubted. He is there because he was described as righteous—blameless in his generation. And yet everything he owned was taken from him in a single sequence of devastating events. His wealth disappeared in one day. His children were killed in a single moment. His health was stripped away so completely that he could no longer recognize his own body. And in the middle of all of it, he was left alone in silence. The Book of Job begins with a scene most readers never notice: a conversation in the heavenly realm. A divine council.
