Glinder Lichtmess 2026 – Der große Festumzug

The parade for the Glinde Candlemas Festival 2026 impressively demonstrates how vibrant and humorous one of the oldest folk festivals in the Salzland district remains. This video offers the complete parade – expertly and entertainingly narrated by Stefan B. Westphal. The Candlemas Festival in Glinde began on February 1, 2026, with the traditional elements: waking the five Candlemas lads early in the morning, the blowing of the sausage bell the day before, and the men's and women's breakfast. At 2 p.m., the parade set off – led by the sun bearers, sausage pole bearers, the board of the Candlemas Committee, veteran Candlemas participants, and the Hohenwarthe Brass Band. More than 20 construction crews presented their displays, ranging from regional themes and humorous social satire to children's and youth projects. Among the items on display were the "Candlemas Spa," "Captain Till's Boat," the "Glinde Goat Farm," the "Barby Ferry of Luck," "100 Years of Queen," the "Olsen Gang," the "Tokyo Hotel Revival Tour," the "Human Slot Machine," "Germany's Botox Problem," "Dancing Vegetables in a Pot," "Donald's Gone Crazy," the Women's Breakfast, the new German Armed Forces Conscription, the Anglers' Youth Group, and the Glinn Cuckoos. The procession wound its way through the town center several times before ending at the Candlemas Museum. There, the speech by the chairman, Christoph Randel, was followed by the traditional lighting of the Candlemas sun – accompanied by the communal singing of "May Has Come."
