Nine preliminary rounds of the 2024 Pordasi National Horse Racing Championship Series I and Indonesia Derby were held at the Sultan Agung Bantul Racecourse in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) on July 14, 2024. The event was organized by PP.Pordasi, with the Jakarta Provincial Government of Pordasi serving as the organizer and the Yogyakarta Regional Government of Pordasi serving as the host. This was mandated by the Pordasi National Working Meeting in November 2023 in Yogyakarta and the February 2024 National Working Meeting in Jakarta. The top class in this preliminary round was the Class 3-Year-Old Indonesia Derby Heat I – 2,000 meters, won by Naga Sembilan, jockey Aji Ardiansah from East Java. The Rapid Dash, jockey J.Runtu from West Java, came in third place, and Ratu SS dh Lady Americana, jockey R.Rorimpandey from Jakarta. Another favorite was the 2-year-old Indonesia Derby Heat II – 2000 meters, won by King of Istana, ridden by jockey Kenny of Ngion, representing Jakarta. Second place went to Atardecer Nagari, ridden by jockey F. Walangitan, representing North Sulawesi, followed by third place by Super Star Tandulako, ridden by jockey A. Ramdani, representing Central Sulawesi. All horses competing in the preliminary round of the Pordasi National Horse Racing Championship Series I will compete again in the final, held at the same location on July 28th, to compete for the Presidential Trophy, previously won by North Sulawesi. Several national-level Pordasi horse racing competitions this year have already run smoothly. The first series of the 2024 Pordasi Triple Crown Horse Racing Championship, titled "Pertamina Piala Tiga Mahkota" or "Triple Crown Pordasi 2024" and "Pertiwi Cup 2024," took place at the Sultan Agung Bantul Racecourse, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) on April 28, 2024. Series 2 was then held by the West Java Pordasi Provincial Executive at the Tegalwaton Racecourse, Semarang Regency, Central Java, on the week of June 2, 2024. The Pordasi National Horse Racing Championship and Series 1 of the Indonesian Derby are inseparable from the Triple Crown Cup. The Triple Crown Trophy winner is the horse that wins Series 1 over a distance of 1,200 meters, then Series 2 over a distance of 1,600 meters, and the 2024 National Championship Series 1 over a distance of 2,000 meters, also known as the Indonesia Derby. After Series 1 of the Pordasi National Horse Racing Championship, Series 2 will follow, scheduled for November 2024. However, before Series 2, the equestrian community will turn their attention to the 21st National Games (PON) in Aceh-North Sumatra in 2024. The most prestigious horse racing competition will be held at a special venue at PON XXI: the H.M. Hasan Gayo Racecourse in Blang Bebangka, Takengon, Central Aceh. The 1,400-meter-long horse racing venue, built by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), will be equipped with facilities such as parking, access roads, and green open space. The new structure will include a covered grandstand with a capacity of 6,500 spectators, an open grandstand with a capacity of 3,500 spectators, facilities for athletes, officials, and the competition committee, a steward's tower, a control tower, and spectator facilities. The venue will also include stables, a horse bathing area, a clinic, and more.
