Kayaking Coniston Lake and Wildcat Island + Bluebird K7 Museum

this is just some footage i filmed while on a day out in coniston, didnt know wether to upload the museum in a separate video so ive just put it in the same video as the yakking. For anyone interested the beginning of the video is the Ruskin Museum in Coniston in the southern Lake District, that now houses the restored and reconditioned wreckage of the “Bluebird” K7 Water Speed World Record vehicle, which tragically killed Donald Campbell on the 4th January 1967. The wreckage was found on the 5th January, with the fourth dive revealing the main hull of the wreckage in 142 feet of water. Some some small pieces were lifted, but the family wished for the wreckage to remain as his body had not yet been found. His body was recovered along with the wreckage in 2001, after 34 years on the bottom of Coniston. A funeral was then held with his coffin being taken by steamer to the point on the water where the incident happened. In 2006, Gina Campbell, Donald’s daughter, transferred Bluebird to the Ruskin Museum in Conistion, and in 2007, some remaining pieces were lifted from the lake bed. Bill Smith, one of the men responsible for finding the wreckage anew in 2001, has since organised the restoration of Bluebird as per the wishes of Gina Campbell.
