In recent weeks I have received several questions from professionals with degrees in: Building Technician, Architecture and Urban Planning, and Building Technology, regarding technical reports on pathological manifestations, or what we more commonly call diagnostic engineering reports. So I rushed to address these requests and clarify who can work with technical reports! Technical reports exist in a wide variety of professions; I will focus on professionals who have completed courses in building technician, building technology, architecture and urban planning, and civil engineering! In the video, I will show the curriculum and resolutions of the professional council that governs each profession to then answer who can work with technical reports. I believe the doubts arose mainly after the resolutions of the CFT (Federal Council of Industrial Technicians) in 2019 and 2022 (last updated on 12/20/2022). Building technicians can sign off on projects up to 80 m², but according to the new CFT (Federal Council of Technicians) resolution, they can execute works without area limits. The CFT resolution states that building technicians can work with technical reports, expert opinions, appraisals, among other things. However, caution and verification by the professional are necessary regarding the objective of the study and their technical capacity; the same applies to building technologists, architects, and civil engineers. I remind you that professionals should seek information from their educational institution (curriculum and responsibilities), professional council, laws, and technical standards to act in the most correct way possible.
