How To Use Assistive Devices (Cane, Walker, Wheelchair, Crutches)

Assistive devices (AD) are tools that help maintaining or improving an individual's functioning and independence to facilitate participation and to increase overall quality of life. These types of equipment play a big role in aiding patients who have injuries and/or disability. Wheelchairs, hearings aids, visual aids, or prostheses are some examples of assistive devices. While there are no one-size-fits-all mobility aids, it is crucial to seek professional help in selecting one. In this video, we are focusing on the main four ambulatory AD, which include cane, walker, wheelchair, and crutches. We hope that you will find this guide to properly ambulate using assistive devices helpful. Consult with your doctor and/or healthcare provider about physical therapy if you are experiencing pain or problems with your balance and gait. ⇢ Instagram @dynamixtherapyconsulting ⇢ Facebook   / dynamixtherapy   Dynamix Therapy Consulting PT Student: Ali McClintock Filming & Editing: Thao Tran
