I lined up in the Open D class and was able to grab a solid start in both motos, build a gap early, and go 1-1 for 1st overall. Bittersweet moment as this is my last race in the D class, will be moving up for round 4 at West Craven MX What made this one even more meaningful is how comfortable I felt on this track. In the past, I’ve had some rough races and injuries here, so coming back and riding smooth, confident laps all day was a big step forward for me. Unfortunately, the day wasn’t without its scary moments. On the last lap, my friend and fellow rider Derik Johnson had a crash and ended up breaking his humerus and bruising his leg. It was tough to see, but I’m very thankful he’s okay. I stayed with him and helped carry him to the ambulance to make sure he was taken care of. He’ll be having surgery soon to fix his arm, and I know he’ll come back stronger. Aside from that, it was a great day at the track. I had a lot of family and friends come out for support, and that always makes race day even better. The weather definitely made things interesting too, 30 degrees in the morning and only getting up to around 65, so it was a cold one out there. Overall, I’m grateful for the win, the progress, and the people around me. Wishing a quick recovery for Derik and looking forward to the next round.
