Inside Kabul Airport - THREAT LEVEL HIGH - Departure Imminent
The security situation in Afghanistan remains volatile. There is an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attack. Current UK Government advise: Do not travel to Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport. If you are in the area of the airport, move away to a safe location. The UK and US are working together to evacuate eligible people from Kabul. We continue to work closely with our US military partners, to ensure the security and viability of the evacuation mission in Kabul. This is indicative of our long-standing and special relationship with the US as our closest ally. As part of the operation, we have deployed more than 1,000 highly capable Armed Forces personnel to Afghanistan to ensure swift and secure access to flights. Further personnel are held at readiness in the region and the UK to move to Afghanistan at speed where required. Operation PITTING is the name for the military support to the evacuation of British Nationals and former British staff eligible for relocation under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP). ----------------------------------------------------- For daily news from the British Armed Forces: https://www.ukforcesnews.co.uk Facebook: / britisharmedforcesdaily Instagram: / ukforcesnews Twitter: / ukforcesnews Pinterest: / ukforcesnews #Kabul #OperationPitting #Afghanistan © Crown Copyright 2021
