The 7 Seals of Revelation Are Open…

Are the 7 seals of Revelation still waiting to be opened in a future seven-year tribulation? Or were they already opened by the Lamb after His death, resurrection, and ascension? In this video, we walk through Revelation 6 and examine the seven seals, the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, the martyrs under the altar, and the cosmic judgment language of the sixth seal. Rather than ripping Revelation out of its first-century context, we look at how the book would have been understood by its original audience — churches facing persecution, compromise, false teaching, pressure from Rome, and conflict with unbelieving Judaism. We also compare Revelation 6 with Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 23–24, often called the Olivet Discourse. Jesus warned of false messiahs, wars, famines, earthquakes, persecution, martyrdom, and cosmic signs — and then said, “this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” When Revelation 6 is read alongside Matthew 24 and the Old Testament prophets, the pattern becomes clear: this is covenant judgment language pointing to the end of the Old Covenant age and the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. This does not mean there is no future judgment or no future return of Christ. But it does mean Revelation 6 should first be understood in its biblical, historical, and covenantal context.
