"I am very pleased that at this very symbolic and extremely pleasant moment you are here with us at the Polish delegation to the United Nations, where today Mr. Jesse Eisenberg appeared, known to everyone, not only as an American, but now also as a Polish actor, director, and filmmaker, but above all, still a young man who applied for Polish citizenship due to his family roots in the Republic of Poland," said Duda. "I must say that as President of Poland, I am very pleased that people from around the world, including those overseas, remember their origins, that their ancestors come from the Republic of Poland and want to connect with our country," he added. "Thank you very much, it's a huge honor for me, and I'm happy, as the President has already said, to become a European, but I'm even more happy to become a Polish citizen today," said Eisenberg. The actor emphasized several times that this ceremony is a great honor for him and added that he had been considering acquiring Polish citizenship for a long time. "I've been thinking about it for nearly two decades. When we were filming 'True Pain in Poland,' it occurred to me that my family had actually lived in this country longer than in New York, longer than in the United States. Of course, Poland's history was tragic, and this tragedy also affected my family, but what seemed even more tragic to me was that my family had completely lost its connection with the country of its origin, Poland. This deeply saddened me, and that's why I decided to reconnect with the country of my ancestors, and I'm glad that with this ceremony I've taken the first step towards that goal."
