Macrogranjas en el punto de mira: la Xunta, culpable por la crisis del agua en As Conchas (Ourense)

Straight to the Point TVE 1 23.09.2025 The Galician government has been condemned for the dumping of slurry and waste from the As Conchas mega-farms. The water contamination is so severe that up to 90 million cyanobacteria accumulate per milliliter. This excess has a specific origin: more than a hundred livestock farms are concentrated in a small area. The mega-farms dump their waste into the As Conchas reservoir, contaminating the water. But that's not all; further upstream in Xinzo de Limia, the slurry seeps into the ground and reaches the aquifers. And the residents there drink and use this water daily. The inhabitants cannot even use the water for showering. Every time measurements are taken, the nitrite levels rise, and right now they are more than double the maximum permitted level. The health consequences of water pollution range from the risk of liver, digestive, and ovarian cancer to even death.
