The Good Place Season 1 Episode 2 REACTION | "Flying" | First Time Watching | Syntell & Rekkai Syntell and Rekkai react to The Good Place Season 1, Episode 2 — "Flying." Eleanor is two days into the Good Place and already causing the neighborhood to fall apart. Chidi reluctantly agrees to help her become a better person, starting with Aristotle: virtue isn't a switch you flip, it's a muscle you build through habit. Eleanor's first real test arrives immediately. Michael announces that orientation day two will feature flying. Tahani organizes a volunteer crew to clean up the debris still scattered from the chaos. Eleanor signs both herself and Chidi up for garbage pickup to prove she's not selfish. Eleanor is in the air in four seconds. Dumping her trash mid-flight because there were only five minutes of flying time left causes it to rain garbage on the neighborhood — which, it turns out, is exactly how Eleanor's selfishness manifests in the Good Place. Michael, who punted a stray dog to the sun because it was disrupting his perfect design, is quietly coming apart at the seams: this neighborhood he spent 200 years as an apprentice preparing for is unraveling and he has no idea why. Jianyu, the silent Buddhist monk, briefly breaks his vow with a chakra technique that pulls Michael back together. Eleanor attempts to fix the trash, finds out Janet has been doing all the actual work for her, and then goes out alone to fix every piece herself. By morning the neighborhood is clean. Tahani assumes the community did it. Chidi agrees to keep helping her. Someone slides a note under Eleanor's door. Post-reaction: Syntell and Rekkai work through an episode that opens with Janet offering pornography and lands somewhere in moral philosophy. They break down the Aristotle point — that virtue is a habit, and Eleanor's failed first attempt is still the beginning of something. Rekkai's frozen yogurt read: Tahani notes that a mixture of a million flavors all somehow tastes like the same generic thing, and it is the most quietly unsettling detail in the episode. The Matrix parallel — Michael as an architect whose first utopia is already collapsing, same energy as the Architect scene in Reloaded. The "uncanny valley" of the Good Place confirmed by a Discord member's comment that both hosts agree nails exactly what's off about the neighborhood. And selfishness as the show's actual subject: Eleanor isn't exceptional, she's just everyone else at an eleven.
