Valentino in 1996: "Why Are You Wearing Sneakers?"
In 1996, our sister show American Journal captured the great fashion designer Valentino as he prepped his New York boutique for its grand opening. With his signature charm and wit, the legendary Italian designer quipped to AJ correspondent, Karen Duffy, " Why are you wearing sneakers?” He then challenged the American public to dress better, and spoke of how New York City influenced his work. The fabled fashionisto passed away last week at the age of 93.
