The learning objective for the second half of this lecture is to be able to solve large deformation problems in solids using the finite element method. The target is plate structures using elastoplastic materials, but since this will be a very tough subject, I hope to be able to get credits even if I don't reach that level. Now, what we're going to learn now is called continuum mechanics. I think the first stumbling block in learning continuum mechanics is tensors and stress.
