I had the honor of sitting with an 80-year-old master weaver who still works every single day. Hands that have been weaving Moroccan carpets for over 70 years. In this 6-minute conversation, he opens up about 3 things: 1. The craft → Moroccan weaving is more than artisanship. It’s living history. Each knot, each pattern carries generations of Berber tradition, culture, and identity. Before machines, every carpet was a story told in wool and dye. Today, it’s one of the last true handmade crafts left in Morocco. 2. His longevity → “The loom keeps me strong,” he said. At 80, he still gets up, still creates, still teaches. No retirement plan. Just passion and purpose keeping him alive. 3. His commerce → The reality of handmade vs machines. His carpets take weeks. Machines take hours. But soul can’t be mass-produced.
