Now that the warm weather is here and things are moving at a little slower pace as the summer is officially upon us, there is no better time to get outside and explore Winnipeg. The city has a vast number of buildings and structures that really give Winnipeggers the opportunity to explore the Chicago of the North, a place at the centre of the continent and a place that was once the gateway to the west. Throughout the summer, the Dalnavert Museum is inviting visitors to experience that history firsthand with Poverty and Prosperity: A Walk Down Early 1900s Broadway. The guided walking tour departs from The Forks every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and every Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the months of July and August. It's an opportunity to step back more than a century and experience Broadway as it would have appeared in the early 1900s, while uncovering the stories of both prosperity and hardship that helped define Winnipeg's remarkable history.
