3-Day Backpacking Trip to Mt. Jonen & Mt. Choga-take in the Japanese Northern Alps.

In late June this year, I went to Mt. Jonen & Mt. Choga-take in Nagano, which are part of the Panoramic Ginza Trail in the Japanese Northern Alps. Starting from Mitsumata, I stayed at Mt. Choga-take Campsites just near the peak of the mountain on Day 1. I hiked on the mountain ridge to Mt. Jonen on Day 2 and stayed at Jonen Campsites. Both campsites are wonderful to see the Hotaka Mountain Range including Mt. Yariga-take. The beauty of the route was highlighted by the mountain ridge between Mt. Jonen and Mt. Mae-Jonen on the last day. This triangle route (Mitsumata - Mt. Choga-take - Mt. Jonenen - Mitsumata) is rated as level B5 by the Nagano Prefecture Comprehensive Mountaineering Center. If you are well-fitted, no expert experience is needed but adequate pieces of equipment.
