Barred Owl kisses his mate

Often unsubtle and sudden with their kisses, and yet gentle with their talons, these owls always make me smile. I like it when they snog and then back off to opposite ends of the branch. Always fun to push these videos against very difficult lighting. Here, the búhos are in the deep shade with strong back lighting. You'd like to keep the sky and the shadows but you have to make a choice on how far you're willing to push the exposure of the owls. The GH5 is still an amazing M43 camera to me but it cannot in any way contain the dull dynamic range of this scene. I doubt even the great Arri Alexa could. One accepts one's tools, one learns them, and one gets out of them what one can.
