H. Lawrence : (1995 -1930) David Herbert Lawrence was an English writer and poet. He was born on September 11, 1885, in the small mining town of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, England. He is regarded as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. He published many novels and poetry volumes during his lifetime. He is best known for his infamous novel 'Lady Chatterley's Lover,' which was banned in the United States until 1959. ♦️About the Essay ♦️ In this essay Lawrence speaks about the superiority of the novel over other fields of study. To illustrate, he explains the importance of life and the living man. He says that the whole living man, the man alive, is more important than anything else like his thoughts, ideas, his mind, or his hand or mind or hair or any other parts of his body. He says that this is what scientists and philosophers fail to understand. According to Lawrence a novelist is the only person who understands the importance of life and the man alive.
