Train to Busan, directed by Yeon Sang-ho in 2016, is often classified as a zombie film. But that label falls short. Because this film isn't just about the undead: it's about how we live, how we work, and what kind of people we become within a capitalist system that prioritizes productivity over humanity. Today we're not going to analyze Train to Busan as a simple horror film. We're going to see it as a critique of contemporary South Korean society in particular, but also of the modern post-industrial world in general.
