Hello everyone, in this video we are in the museum of the artist Aleksander Herzen, who is considered the father of Russian socialism. In 1847, Herzen left Russia never to return due to the oppression of the Tsarist regime and settled in Paris. The founder of the first revolutionary movement known as Narodism was Aleksandr Herzen. Witnessing the revolutions of 1848, Herzen corresponded with Giuseppe Mazzini in Paris, the capital of European revolutionism, and in Italy in the 1850s while in exile, and was the leader of the Russian exiles in London. Herzen, known as the "father of Russian socialism", is one of the important names and leading ideologists of the Narodnik movement, which is a populism based on agrarianism. He also ideologically influenced the Socialist Revolutionary Party, the Trudoviks and the Agrarian People's Party in the USA. It is known that Karl Marx had a difference of opinion with Herzen, whom he described as a liberal and ambitious person. He also worked with Mikhail Bakunin, who came to London in 1852. Herzen, who criticized the bad administration and corruption of the Russian Empire, started to publish the magazine Kolokol (Bell) in order to spread his criticisms. His views included anti-Western sentiment. It can be said that Joseph Stalin in particular was influenced by his views. He was one of the names who prepared the appropriate political environment for the granting of rights to serfs in 1861. His autobiography My Past and My Thoughts is among the important works of Russian literature of the period. I am leaving the link of the museum below for those who want to visit this museum.
