Freight traffic will no longer be allowed to cross the Merwede Bridge near Gorinchem starting Saturday late afternoon. According to Rijkswaterstaat, research has shown that the arch structure of the bridge, which carries the A27 motorway, is weaker at multiple locations than previously assumed.
